The Destructive Force of Maybe

Next time you’re having a conversation, think about how often you say:

“Maybe I should just…”

“Maybe that’s the answer.”

“Maybe that’s what I need to do.”

Why did maybe sneak into all of these statements?

Maybe allows you to remain uncommitted to doing what you know needs to be done. Maybe is your excuse.

Because if you throw a maybe in there then you don’t need to explore it any further; it’s just a daydream.

Next time you catch a maybe in conversation:

Stop yourself,

go back,

and repeat the same phrase without the maybe.

Then “maybe that’s the answer” becomes

“that’s the answer.”

“Maybe that’s what I need to do” becomes

“that’s what I need to do.”

And “maybe I should just…” becomes

“I will…”
